Our 2018 Tequila Aficionado Tour begins early this year, in late July, as we depart from Texas and make our way up to the Mammoth Lakes area of northern California.
In early August the first stop on our tour will be the Mammoth Margarita Festival (August 10-11). We’ll have two crews there bringing you all the fun and festivities with live video daily. While we won’t be pouring sponsor brands there, we will be auditioning tasters for Tequila Aficionado and using sponsor brands for those tastings. So whether you’d like to taste what we’re touring with or actually get a Tequila Jockey gig working for tequila, we’d love to see you for open auditions in Mammoth!

Our next stop on the 2018 Tequila Aficionado Tour will be in Monterey for the Monterey Bay Tequila and Cuisine event on October 13. We’ll be covering all the fun there with live video and plenty of recorded interviews. Tour sponsor brands will get exposure there by product placement in our videos.

As we make our way south toward Pasadena, we’ll stop in Bakersfield at Sol y Luna Mexican Cuisine for a special pop-up event.
We will finish the 2018 Tequila Aficionado Tour with a massive event at El Cholo Restaurant in Pasadena on October 26, where we will be pouring sponsor brands in the VIP area at El Cholo’s annual Tequila Tour.

In addition to all of this, sponsor brands will receive a ridiculous amount of social media posts on behalf of Tequila Aficionado, on all of our social networks, to promote their brand(s). Brands interested in participating in our biggest, boldest tour yet can find the complete list of posts and items that we will be providing to all of our sponsor brands – for each expression – here.

You just need to sit back and share all the social goodness that gets created about your brand on the tour.

We Don’t Displace Your Agency
You may have an agency that is handling all of your promotion and that’s OK. What we do complements what your agency is doing. The material we create on our tours is additional publicity that your agency, your social media manager, and you can use to further your overall promotion strategy.
Tequila Aficionado’s (real) Instagram, April 2018
We Don’t Take Over Accounts
We don’t take over your social accounts. We create and share promotional content about your agave spirit brand with Tequila Aficionado’s audience (about 3 million aficionados) that you can use in advertising and social campaigns as you see fit.
You Can’t Beat the Price
The beauty of the Tequila Aficionado Tour is you pay a modest price to have your brand(s) tour with us and then we take it from there.
Transparency
We take pride in our transparency and are completely transparent about our networks and our reach.
Everything we do is organic and our followers are real tequila aficionados who buy and drink agave spirits.
If we boost a post about your brand, you’ll know about it and have access to all the details.
We also ensure all our posts are FTC compliant.
No Extra Work For You or Your Team
You don’t need to plan events, but your brand will be featured at several.
You don’t need to provide staff because our staff has tasted your brand, knows it, loves it and will sing its praises.
You don’t need to provide photography because we’re featuring your brand in photos and videos shared on all of our social networks.
You don’t need to write catchy copy because we know your brand and write the copy that resonates with our audience.
When you ride with us, we take care of everything!
We’re the only agency that tours with brands so it is a valid question.
Following are five big reasons why you should hop on the next Tequila Aficionado Tour:
Give your social networks a jumpstart. A Tequila Aficionado Tour is 4-6 months of concentrated photo and video opportunities where we create social media content that you might not have the time, inclination or inspiration to create yourself. This can help to jumpstart your social media efforts or just give them a welcome boost.
Great end of year campaign. The last quarter of the year is the biggest spirits selling season of all. Unless your brand has deep pockets, it’s impossible to compete with the big boys that throw buckets of cash at traditional advertising. That’s why we take your brand outside the box and create content that our followers, you, and your fans will love to share virally.
You never know who we’ll share your brand with. We sip with rock stars, tequila royalty, industry movers and shakers, and influential tastemakers. When your brand tours with us, you never know who we’ll introduce it to but you can be sure we’ll be singing your praises because, after all, it’s a Brand of Promise.
Content you don’t have to create. “User generated content” is a common buzzphrase but few people really understand the influence it carries. When Tequila Aficionado creates content for and about your brand on tour, you can take that to the bank because we’re sharing it with about 3 million agave spirit aficionados. If you’re smart, you’re sharing it with your audience too!
Tap into our networks for new fans. We continue to work hard to build and maintain the largest, strongest audience of agave spirit aficionados. We build our fan base organically, never buy followers, and our numbers aren’t inflated with bots that won’t buy booze. Our audience is the exact audience you’re looking for because they love agave spirits and they follow the brands we recommend, like yours.
Touring with Tequila Aficionado is an easy answer to building your brand recognition and increasing your customer base. It’s so easy that some brands think there’s a catch – there isn’t. You come on tour with us and over 3 million agave spirit aficionados will recognize your brand name when they see it on a shelf – and they’ll remember that Tequila Aficionado recommends it.
The big question now is why haven’t you signed up for the 2018 tour yet?
We’re packing up and getting ready to ride for some spectacular brands this year. Here’s what our tour itinerary looks like, barring any unforeseen adventures. It’ll be a nonstop month of tequila and mezcal fun!
*FTC Disclosure: Brands appearing on the Tequila Aficionado Dia de Los Muertos & Heartland Tour had to be vetted as Brand of Promise Nominees and paid a nominal fee to be on the tour.
It’s Official – We Have a Rockin’ Itinerary!!
Here’s the map – it is a public map on Google so feel free to zoom in and really dig into it. We’ve got some great stops and events planned that are going to make for epic content for our sponsors.
Check the itinerary below the map for a few details of our tour of some of the best of America’s Heartland.
We’ll kick it all off by spending a night at Bracken Cave, the world’s largest bat colony, and just happens to be made up of Mexican Free-Tailed Bats, the very bats responsible for the tequila we love.
Then we’ll drive north to Lake Texoma for some gorgeous photos ops with our sponsor brands.
Next, we’ll be spending some time with the Lujano Family, the owners of Felipe’s Restaurants in Wichita, Kansas. We have an amazing private tasting of our sponsor brands planned with the Lujano’s and the folks of Standard Beverage.
After a quick stop in Iowa to refuel and exercise off all of the great food we’ll eat at Felipe’s, we’ll make our way up to Minnesota’s Twin Cities. We’ll meet with and interview the folks from Los Osuna at Barrio on our first day there and attend an event of epic proportions hosted by Revel Spirits at 6Smith in Wayzata.
From Minnesota, we’ll roll into Wisconsin where we will stop in the quaint community of Stoughton that can trace it’s history to Norway. There, we’ll spend some time with the proprietress of Cheeser’s to learn all about some of America’s finest craft cheeses (and a few imports). While we’re there, we hope to find the perfect pairing for each of our sponsors.
It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it!
From Wisconsin, we’ll loop around Lake Michigan to visit some of Michigan’s finest u-pick farms and farmer’s markets for great local foods to pair with our sponsor brands.
Next we’ll drive to Kentucky for batty and Jurassic adventures at Mammoth Cave National Park, the world’s largest cave system, and Dinosaur World. Weather providing, we should be able to take some great photos of the attractions and the brands coming with us.
Making our way south, we’ll do some glamping by The Big Muddy and maybe hop a riverboat in Memphis.
Catfish and barbeque can pair nicely with tequilas and mezcals!
After that, we’re headed to Crater of Diamond’s State Park in Arkansas to get our rock hound on! When you find a diamond there, you get to name it, so we’re hoping we’ll find enough to name one after each of our sponsors.
Can you say the Siempre Diamond?
After our big diamond strike, we’ll make our way back to Texas to explore the American space program at NASA in Houston.
With three weeks on the road, we’re going to see some of the Heartland’s finest sights and enjoy the local flavors and we’re looking forward to doing that with all of our sponsors:
We don’t leave until September 10th so if you’d like to get on board as a sponsor, there’s still time to do so! Simply fill out the form below and we’ll make sure you get on the tour!

We’re planning to hit the road again this fall and we’re taking this trip in a whole new direction. Our last trip was all about the great Southwest and the photo ops available there for Tequilas and mezcals, but this tour will be different – we’re going straight for the Heartland.
What We’ll Do
On this tour, we’ll be traveling north from Texas to the Twin Cities to share some agave love in those states in between. From there, we’ll explore pairing with Wisconsin Cheeses and Michigan apples.
All along the way, we expect to have plenty of pairing and photo ops for agave spirit brands that want to come along and we’re fine tuning all our networks to share as much of the experience as we can through live Facebook video, YouTube video, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, and more. This means epic, out-of-the-box content for the brands who choose to come with us.
How To Get In On It
If we’ve reviewed your brand and nominated it for or awarded it with a Brands of Promise Award, we’d love to have it on board for this tour that promises the best the American Heartland has to offer.
For details on the social content packages that we plan to provide for brands during this tour, contact Lisa@TequilaAficionado.com.

Have you seen the Tequila Aficionado Dia de los Muertos Magazine?
We’d like to extend a very special “Thank You” to the tequila and mezcal brands who took a chance on our outside-the-box idea of social media content creation for agave spirits brands.
We enjoyed every opportunity to sip and share these brands through our travels and found no shortage of inspiration for content creation throughout the trip and beyond.
We’re looking forward to a 2015 Tequila tour from Texas to the Great Lakes in September and hope they’ll consider coming along with us again.
The images and captions included in the Dia de los Muertos Magazine are samples of the content we created during the 2015 Dia de los Muertos Tour. For more, please visit the Tequila Aficionado Wiki where each of these brands is featured in depth.
If you’d like more information on how your brand can get involved in the 2016 Tequila Aficionado Tour, please email Tours@TequilaAficionado.com and we’ll send you all the juicy details. In the meantime, we can tell you there will be lots of heartland goodness involved like Wisconsin cheeses for pairing with tequilas and mezcals, Michigan apples for cooking with tequila, fall foliage and much more!

The Dia de los Muertos Tour is even bigger and better than we imagined! We’re exploring the great Southwest!

Here’s our tour schedule and where we’ll be camping. If you’re near one of our stops, message us on Facebook and we’ll tell you when the pouring begins!

Jessica’s Epic Tequila Tour: When you love what you do, you immerse yourself in the experience By Jessica Arent
BIENVENIDOS A GUADALAJARA, JALISCO, MEXICO!
I am not going to lie, when your living is derived from that which you are passionate about in a culture you call home, it ceases to be a J.O.B and becomes altogether a joy and the adventure of a lifetime. Enter me, and my profession. As much as this writer would like to derive her income from exclusively writing, (isn’t that what all authors aspire to?), I am not on the Top Seller list, so I use my creativity and love of Tequila in other ways. I specialize in Marketing and Branding of Hispanic Products in the United States with an emphasis on Tequila. Of course, living and working in this world presents one with some unique and extraordinary life experiences.
Joining Tequila Aficionado
A few months ago, M.A. “Mike” Morales and Lisa Pietsch invited me to join the team at Tequila Aficionado and write a travel based column for their exceptional publication. Initially, I was flattered. Then I was overwrought with anxiety, not knowing what to write about. Didn’t it have to relate to tequila? Shouldn’t it reflect Mexico? Does it have to be a lot of Tequila Talk? Oy Vey!!! What to write? The anxiety was killing me. This went on for a few weeks, honestly. I had writer’s block.
Opportunity Knocked Rang
Then the phone rang. No, it wasn’t Lisa looking for a submission. No, it wasn’t Mike, prompting my creative ideas. It was a distributor friend and colleague out of Central Valley, California, asking if I would be interested in a new project and product emerging into the market in the near future. Well of course I was! A girl has to eat, right? The long and the short, found me on a plane, headed to Guadalajara, Mexico, for my first time. Okay, I know what you are thinking. “How can you possibly market Hispanic Products and especially Tequila, without having been to Guadalajara, Mexico?!” My answer to this? I was paid in Tequila with my first position in Advertising at Univision Television in that same Central Valley Market my distributor friend called from. That IS little Guadalajara. I have been in and out of innumerable destinations in Mexico for business, and (don’t hate) I know what I am doing. It isn’t my first “Charreada”! Enter The Epic Tequila Tour
It’s an “Epic” (hold on to that adjective, you will want to remember it!) experience when your client invites you into their world to feel, touch and experience in every imaginable way, the product. Yes, you read that right. In the “Epic” (there is that word again!!) experience of the concept, development, relationships, price structure, placement, endorsements, and sponsorships, the entire image of a product right down to the ownership and infrastructure of the team, is the BRAND. And this project, was nothing short of “Epic”. The thing is, I am pretty discerning, very particular, and extremely picky about Tequila and branding, so it’s got to be extraordinary for this girl to really get in the game and take on the project. Turns out, this one is “Epic”.
Welcome to Jessica’s Journey
And so, instead of just telling you about it, I thought I would take you on my journey through this particular experience start to finish, through a series of articles, so that you too can feel, touch, smell, taste and experience what I did. If you read this series and immerse yourselves as I did, I am confident by the time we get to the end of my decadent, inspiring, educational, enlightening Guadalajara experience you will have come to know everyone along the way as I did. Those who made history in Tequila and created this amazingly beautiful Tequila world we live in. When we’re through, and it’s gotten Off the Cuff with Mike and Alex, and seen Lisa’s kitchen for a taste test or two, I might just tell you who and what to look for hitting the shelves and bars near you! Ready, Set……. BIENVENIDOS A UN “EPIC” TEQUILA EXPERIENCIA! [Tweet “BIENVENIDOS A UN “EPIC” TEQUILA EXPERIENCIA!”] Read the next installment of Jessica’s Journey next Monday!
